About Agape Care
Agape Care is a non-medical agency providing in-home care to senior citizens, new mothers, people with disabilities, long term illnesses, or who are recovering from operations with the services they need to remain or recover in their own homes. These services often help ease family tensions and fears plus provide much needed “Respite Care” for those who daily serve as caregivers for a family member or loved one.
Meet the Agape Care Leadership Team
Karen Shenk served seniors for 17 years at the Next Gen Senior Center. Working with her mother, Nancy Morrow, Director for 25 years, the senior center became the hub from which programs and services help seniors maintain their dignity and independence. Currently she serves as President of their Board of Directors. Karen serves as President of the Penn Manor Education Foundation, Vice President of the Millersville Business Association. Has served on the Women In-Business Committee, and Mentoring Committee with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Lancaster Sertoma. Karen is the Agape Center Executive Director. Her 17 plus years experience in geriatrics have proven invaluable to her Leadership and Administrative team as well as Agape Care’s Clients and Caregivers. Karen presently serves as Missions Director for Transformation Ministries, traveling with missions teams to Nicaragua.

Nicki Nafziger, Karen's daughter, continues the family tradition of caring for and serving seniors. Nicki has 8 years experience in the in-home care industry and a life long association and service to the Next Gen Senior Center. She is a member of the Lancaster Sertoma Club and was the 1999 recipient of the Serteen Service to Mankind Award and served on the Board of Directors for the Christian Library of Lancaster. Nicki has been a Junior Achievement volunteer teaching the JA Success Skills curriculum at Penn Manor High School.
This course helps students develop their interpersonal effectiveness and problem solving strategies for success in the workplace. As Director of Client and Caregiver Services, Nicki carefully creates each clients care plan to suit their individual requirements. She then continually monitors each clients circumstances so their care plan can be adjusted to suit their changing needs, wants and desires. A very important aspect of Nicki’s job is to assure positive and open communications between clients, caregivers and the Agape Care administrative office.

Joyce Miller Miller is the Agape Care Director of Community Services. Her job is to explore opportunities for Agape Care to network and serve community organizations. Joyce brings many years of experience serving organizations like: The United Way, the Mountville Youth Athletic Association fundraising committee and “Team Mom”. At the Mountville Elementary School, Joyce served as a Fundraising Committee Leader and “Room Parent”. She currently serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Next Gen Senior Center, the Women In Business Mentoring Committee and as an Ambassador for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, volunteers at the Millersville Meals On Wheels and with Mum’s For Moms. This organization grew from a simple gesture of taking chrysanthemums to moms who had soldiers serving in Iraq., has grown to an organization of friends and family volunteers packaging hundreds of “Christmas Care Packages” to soldiers in Iraq and many other parts of the world where soldiers are separated from their families for the holiday season.
